PERSONALITY TRAITS
Meredrine is by no means conceited, but she has a deep-set prejudice against men. Men, to her, have been useless, caught up in their own egos, and failed to get a clear picture of reality. Having had a series of disappointments whenever she expected anything of a man, she has now established the view that they cannot be depended on to do great things. Not that they're bad, of course -- she is perfectly willing to be civil to them -- but they have to be taken care of a great deal more. She wouldn't trust them with big things, but if they happen to be good-looking, sure, she could spare some trouble helping them out.

Meredrine is also a big glutton. In her opinion, halflings need double the energy to keep up with medium-sized people, and being particularly dexterous herself, she needs about 5 meals a day. Her favourite food is piping hot beef soup, or anything that is hot and meaty.

She is a city person through and through. She likes watching people interact, looking at trinkets and revelling in crowds and loud noises. She gets bored easily if left alone in a forest or dungeon.
MANNERISMS AND APPEARANCE
Meredrine was born with pretty features, and takes care to maintain them (though the occasional strong beef soup causes her skin to develop oily welts). Being a travelling Skald means seeing a lot of important people in many places, and so she believes it is a -duty- to look good.

She stands confidently, sometimes too confidently. She likes to raise her chin to look defiantly at medium-sized people, with a wry smile that looks like she is quietly assessing people.

COMPANIONS AND ALLIES
Meredrine does not have friends or family. Even if she did, they would have become estranged by now, with her frequent long trips all over the country.
SESSION AND CAMPAIGN NOTES
Meredrine was born in a family where females were dominant. She lived with her parents and an elder brother in the bustling city, and her mother often ridiculed and belittled her father. She also showed preferential treatment towards Meredrine compared to her brother. Meredrine gradually learnt to accept this environment, and her father was always cowering with his head bent, enduring her mother's lashes. He probably deserved it anyway, for he -did- seem quite slow whenever he was asked to do anything.

Her mother died mysteriously one day. She just never woke up from her sleep, and her lips were blackened. Meredrine's family put it down to illness, but she could see at once her mother had been poisoned. However, much as she asked, her father and brother refused to investigate further, and so with bitter resentment against them, she decided to investigate what seemed like an apparent murder on her own. She left the family, ignoring their pleas, and set about looking for clues. However, nobody knew anything about the matter. During her investigations, though, she met a wandering traveller -- a Skald. The Skald seemed to know everything about the world. Meredrine was fascinated by the freedom the Skald held, and her ability to obtain even top secret information. She didn't want to be this powerless, shackled by weak family members. And so she set out on her journey as a Skald.
