Introspective and concerned with obligations and duties, Nils is focusing on martial skills as the way to fulfill his duties. He shows blatant disregard for his own safety, trying to take the brunt of enemies attacks in battle.
In battle he's grim but finds the time to make morbid jokes and wise-cracks. Out of battle, he's either embellishing tales of their exploits, or treading melancholy--highs and lows. Most of his sadness comes from having failed to protect his youngest brother who died in battle.

MANNERISMS AND APPEARANCE
Unusually tall for a dwarf, Nils is hardy, strong, and agile. He wears his hair closely cropped on top, framing his square face. His beard is tied into individual strands, and he shaves off his mustache. He is clad head to toe in armor, wearing a set of spartan plate mail made by the metalsmiths of his clan. Made out of simple lines and angles, the only mark is an embossed hammer over his heart.

COMPANIONS AND ALLIES
Nils is a member of the Bravado Five adventuring company. His allies include the Blackhammer Clan, which he is heir to, currently lead by his father, Aurum. Aurum believes that martial skill & fortitude are essential qualities in the head of the clan, and Nils has always been his favorite son. While he's tough, he's frequently easy on Nils, and is content to let him explore until he's ready to take over the leadership. He also enjoys sharing his son's adventuring exploits with the other members of the clan, and would hate to see the tales stop coming in.
He has a hero's welcome prepared for Bravado Five whenever they visit, especially after they eliminated a neighboring clan of Frost Giants. He's especially fond of Torinn and his stories, dubbing him an "honorary" dwarf.

Nils is a strong adherent to Moradin, but has been given favor by Kord, who may have plans for him.
After arriving in the small town of Wellspring, the Bravado Five settled in at the Blue Plate for dinner and relaxation. As is always the case, their rest was interrupted. Grells attacked the pilgrims in the town square.
By charging into battle, Nils prevented further casualties, taking the brunt of the Grell's assault before they were finished off.
