PERSONALITY TRAITS
Alise had a normal childhood - at first. When her teenage years came around she discovered her affinity for the arcane arts. When her parents discovered this, they kicked her out. Although they didn't alert the nk'bara to her presence, her ensuing poverty left her wishing they had. The next few years of her life were difficult. Constant fear of the nk'bara kept her wary of others, and she quickly developed a knack for drawing peoples' attention away from her, using both arcane and conventional means. But she survived.
Many years later, Alise had carved a niche for herself. Securing a job as a librarian served as a good cover, for who would question a librarian carrying around a heavy tome?
Alise had also discovered other magic-users like her, hiding from the nk'bara right under their noses. They helped each other remain unnoticed, covering each others tracks and providing safe haven to those on the run. They had all heard the rumours of the brewing resistance, but they were hesitant to reach out. Everyone, Alise included, had been betrayed at one point or another by those they thought they could trust. Who was to say it wasn't the nk'bara, laying a trap? But Alise, for one, had had enough of hiding.
A few weeks after the rumors began, she left the city. Alise had officially joined the resistance.

MANNERISMS AND APPEARANCE
Alise is a human of average height and build, with light-brown hair tied back in a ponytail. She is always seen carrying a novel in one hand, her nose in it more often than not. Her fair features are masked by an illusion she maintains every day, only dispelled in the company of those she trusts. She is usually dressed in her librarian's outfit, a plain brown robe tied with a leather belt.
